Licensing & Ordination

Serving with The Alliance

1) First Step

Go to www.called2serve.org and complete the short form under "Next Steps."  This will tell us a little about you and your interest in ministry.  Please check "yes" and choose the MidAmerica District from the drop down box for the district you are working with.  When you have submitted the form, the MidAmerica District will be notified of your interest.

2) Connect with the MidAmerica District

Someone from the MidAmerica District will contact you with the next steps, which may include the accreditation and application process, which is explained in t he Accreditation Handbook.

3) Complete the Application

Complete the application and submit the requested documents with the assistance of an assigned Mentor and the MidAmerica District Office team.

4) Licensing Interview

An accreditation interview will be scheduled with the MidAmerica District Licensing, Ordination and Consecration Council  (LO&CC).  This interview is an opportunity for the committee to assess the candidate's call to ministry, preparedness, and character.  It is also a time for the candidate to get to know leadership within the district.  Upon successfully completing the interview, the candidate may be accredited, which means he or she is eligible to be licensed when and if a call/appointment is received to a specific ministry.  Completion of the application and interview does not automatically mean that an individual will be licensed by the district.

Alliance Polity Course

All individuals who are licensed with The Christian and Missionary Alliance must complete the Alliance Polity course at an Alliance College, by attending a seminar hosted by the MidAmerica District or through an online course. .  The Alliance Polity course enables a licensed worker to provide competent pastoral leadership and care for a local C&MA congregation so that it fulfills its biblical purpose, including participation locally, regionally, and internationally in The Alliance’s global mission. The course also imparts the vision and core values of the C&MA, and familiarizes new workers with the significance and history of the C&MA to the worldwide Christian movement.

Contact the MidAmerica District for information on taking Alliance Polity by emailing midamerica@madcma.org or calling 402-330-1888.

Ministry Pathway

All workers newly licensed in the MidAmerica District are "provisional workers" and will begin one of three pathways:  1) ordination, (2) consecration, or 3) church ministry worker license.  There are specific assignments for each, which are explained in the resources below:
